A Cabin Getaway

Last month Riley rotated with an ophthalmologist.
(Did you notice the spelling on that? yes, that's a "phth" in there. You need a medical degree simply to figure out how to spell that thing, let alone learn the skills to operate on the eyeballs the title requires!)
So, he rotated with an eye surgeon. (Is that better?) And that very kind eye surgeon owns a very nice cabin up at Wintergreen, our semi-local ski resort.
He blessed us with the keys for a few days. A peaceful getaway, free of charge.
It was simply lovely.
The cabin itself was antique, and Mrs. Ophthalmologist apparently collects antiques, because it was decked from cedar plank floor to log-lined ceiling with beautiful, antique fixtures and decor.
I loved it!
The wood burning fireplace glowed constantly (because, well, it was a very *drafty* antique cabin, and we were enjoying record-breaking cold temperatures!) and was the highlight of the trip for me.
We enjoyed unplugging in the cabin with no TV, no internet, and no... well, ok, we had cell phones.
;)

We invited Riley's parents to join us on our getaway. It was so nice to spend some quality time with Grammie and Grampa!
We read books, played games, and Riley even got to go skiing with his parents one day!
Asher felt very grown up when he got to join them later for some fun snow tubing.
We even got the treat of a fresh layer of snow while we were there.
It was a perfect little getaway, and we're so thankful we got the chance to make such cozy memories!

:)
